Guarding Employee Safety

Background:

For JHF’s customer, employee safety is a top priority. Their existing capping process had few safety measures in place to protect employees on two of their production lines.

Solution:

Our sales, engineering/controls, and aluminum teams worked together to design and build custom aluminum, self-standing safety guards around the capping equipment. The design includes doors, on both sides of the guarding, for accessibility/maintenance.

The controls team integrated the access doors' interlocks into the capping line’s PLC logic for maximum safety. The interlocks create an “e-stop” function that ceases the capping process anytime a maintenance door is open.

Impact:

The solution increased overall safety for employees working on the line. The aesthetically pleasing aluminum guarding with interlocks takes protection to a whole new automated/integrated level.
